Eurowings adds a further 40 destinations for June

Eurowings has bolstered its flight programme for June by adding a further 40 destinations.

The airline, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, said the significant expansion will open up a range of “sunshine” destinations across Europe.

The airline is also expanding the planned number of flight connections from Germany to Majorca, Greece and Croatia and domestic routes on the back of demand.

Destinations to be added in June include Fuerteventura, Kos and Rhodes from Düsseldorf; Larnaca, Tunis and Calvi from Cologne/Bonn; Faro, Ibiza and Split from Hamburg; and Naples and Vienna from Stuttgart.

The airline said it was doubling its fleet to up to 20 Airbus aircraft by the end of June.

Lufthansa Group has already announced it is reinstating 40 weekly flights from the UK and Ireland from June 1, which will provide routes from Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin to airports in Germany with onward connections.

Chief executive Jens Bischof said: “We can feel the growing desire of people to travel again and relax and enjoy their holidays after a long period of travel ban.

“This is exactly what we are now making possible with our extended summer schedule – reliably, safely and with all due caution.”

The airline is offering a flexibility guarantee which allows the flight to be rebooked as often as needed and free of charge up to 14 days before departure on all Eurowings flights within Europe, even to a different destination.

Meanwhile, the Lufthansa Group Airlines – Lufthansa; Swiss; Austrian Airlines; Brussels Airlines and Air Dolomiti – have extended the free rebooking period until December 2021 if needed due to the “current exceptional circumstances”. The date was previously April 30, 2021.

This will allow customers to book travel with the option to rebook once for free to postpone their trip.

The new trip must be the same route and class and take place by December 31, 2021. The policy applies to tickets booked up to and including June 30, 2020, with a confirmed travel date up to and including April 30, 2021. The rebooking must be made before the original travel date.
