Kuoni has described itself as among the world’s leading suppliers of online destination management services after completing its takeover of Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA) from Travelport.
The Swiss travel group needed a capital increase of 250 million Swiss francs to allow the deal to be completed as planned yesterday (May 5).
Kuoni’s destination management boss Rolf Schafroth will run GTA as its chief executive.
GTA operates in 26 cities and has has 2,400 employees worldwide. It provides hotel bookings, coach services, transfers, sightseeing tours and destination services for independent travellers and groups, with a focus on the growing online travel services sector.
A Kuoni spokesman said: “GTA represents an excellent enhancement to Kuoni’s traditional tour operations business and fits well with the Kuoni destination management activities.”
