Thousands of snack boxes have been donated by Jet2 after flights were grounded to help charities support the elderly and the homeless in Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.
The in-flight snacks, which would normally be bought by passengers, include chocolate flapjack, Pretzels, Italian cheese, crackers and Pizette cheese – enabling charities to provide more food to people who are in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
The airline donated the boxes to Otley Action for Older People, Age UK’s Manchester Resource Centre and SPIN (Supporting People in Need) Manchester, a charitable organisation that feeds, shelters and supports both the homeless and people in need.

Age UK Manchester assistant care centre manager Zoe Mitchell said: “The delivery from Jet2.com will help lots of people within the community during this difficult time, when we need to stick together to overcome the Covid-19 outbreak.
“This donation was gladly received and very much appreciated by everyone here at AGE UK.”
Jet2 and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy said: “We want to support the community in any way that we can during this difficult time, and we hope these snack boxes will help those who are in need.
