Travel insurance sales have been suspended by leading insurer LV= due to coronavirus.
People who have already bought travel insurance from the insurer will still be covered.
The company said: “In light of the impact that coronavirus is having globally, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause the sale of travel insurance to new customers.
“We considered a number of different options, such as excluding cover or significantly increasing prices for new customers.

“We strongly believe this temporary measure of pausing the sale of new policies and focusing on our existing customers is the right decision.”
LV= added: ”There’s no change for existing customers who already have a policy with us. You can contact us in the normal way if you need to make a claim, and we’re still offering renewals to our existing customers.
Coronavirus: ‘exceptional circumstances’
“We remain committed to the travel insurance market and this is only a temporary move given the exceptional circumstances. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
The disclosure came after Aviva restricted the level of cover in new travel policies.
Aviva said that people will still be able to buy its travel insurance – but they will not be able to add cover for travel disruption.
A spokesperson said: “We have decided to adjust our cover to reflect the current risks posed by coronavirus.”
