Fred Olsen claims 30% spike in early January sales

Trade sales for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines rose by almost a third in the first two weeks of January.

The line reported a bookings rise of more than 30% year-on-year with the help of a turn of year cruise sale.

Agents are being incentivised in with shopping vouchers with rising values from £20 to £50 depending on level of accommodation until February 4.

Top sellers in the past week include April departures from Southampton, Newcastle and Liverpool.

Head of sales Geoff Ridgeon said: “January can be a challenging time, with so many turn of year offers making a lot of noise in the market, but these sales show the depth of trust in our brand.

“With some reports of a slow start to 2020 within the industry in terms of sales, to see that our trade partners have helped us to buck this trend this week is an even greater success.”
