Fastest-growing private travel firms listed

Car hire provider Otto Car is the top travel company to appear in the latest Sunday Times/Virgin Atlantic Top Track 100.

The London-based firm came in 21st place in the annual ranking of UK private companies with the fastest growing sales as it expanded its fleet to 2,000 mainly electric or hybrid cars in four years.

It achieved annual sales growth over three years of 97.08% to £12 million by specialising in providing cars to private-hire drivers.

The company, founded in 2016, is looking to expand into France, Mexico and the US east coast.

Specialist online travel agency HalalBooking came in 33rd position.

Turnover reached £17.6 million last year and more than 300,000 registered customers in 84 countries.

The site features hotels with no-alcohol policies, women-only leisure facilities and halal food.

Set up a decade ago, HalalBooking saw latest sales rise by 81.13%. The company raised £1.6 million from investors in September valuing it at £41 million.

Luxury travel website Oliver’s Travels claimed 80th place in the rankings with a sales increase of 48.18% and events and travel agency Total Management Group in 83rd with a sales uplift of 47.21%.

Sales at Oliver’s Travels hit £6.2 million this year with expansion in Bali, France and the US. Its largest booking cost £152,000 for a month in a villa in Tuscany.

Total Management Group saw sales grow to £15.2 million in the year to March with more than 30,000 people attending its events in 50 countries.
