Jet2.com boosts Belfast capacity to the Canaries

Jet2.com is increasing capacity to the Canary Islands from Belfast in response to extra demand from holidaymakers in Northern Ireland.

The seasonal flights will operate to the Canaries from May to October 2020. The airline is adding 10,000 seats to both Tenerife and Lanzarote, bringing its total capacity to the Canary Islands up to 130,000.

There will be an additional weekly Monday service to Tenerife, bringing the number of flights up to four a week and an extra Tuesday service will be added to Lanzarote bringing the number of flights to three weekly.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2 and Jet2holidays said: “We have responded quickly to extra demand for flights and holidays to Tenerife and Lanzarote, by adding more of our award-winning flights and Atol protected package holidays for summer 2020 from Belfast International airport. This means holidaymakers in the region now have even more choice and flexibility when it comes to getting some summer sun.”

The announcement follows recent news of Jet2.com adding two Greek destinations and an Innsbruck route for next summer.

The package holiday specialist’s rival Thomas Cook ceased trading in September.
