Yotel set for second Amsterdam property

The first city centre Yotel in mainland Europe is due to open on Monday ahead of new properties in Glasgow and London early next year.

Yotel Amsterdam Noord – which features 202 ‘cabins’ – is the brand’s second city centre hotel in Europe following the opening of an Edinburgh property in July.

It complements the firm’s Yotelair hotel at Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

Aimed at tech-savvy travellers, the latest Dutch Yotel features an outdoor cinema, waterside deck and all-day dining. Room rates start at €90 a night.

A water system collects, stores, filters and recycles water, while the hotel also utilises energy saving LED lighting and sensors to ensure nothing is kept running when not in use. Ten electric car charging points will be available at the canal-side hotel.

The cabins feature a space-saving adjustable bed, rain showers, mood lighting, free super-fast wi-fi and Smart TVs.

Yotel operates airport hotels at Gatwick, Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Istanbul, Singapore Changi and seven city centre hotels in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC, Singapore, Edinburgh and Amsterdam.

Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot said: “We opened one of our first hotels at Schiphol airport, so it was only natural for us to return and introduce our city hotel concept to a nation who has always embraced us.

“Amsterdam Noord is a thriving cultural hub offering global travellers an exciting opportunity to discover an alternative side of the city.

“With super easy access to the centre of town and an array of cool businesses right on our doorstep, it made perfect sense for us to open here.”
