Online agency The Adventure People has joined industry body Abta.

The firm was founded by former Travel Republic and Loveholidays commercial director Chris Roche and aggregates adventure operators on one platform, focusing on local, boutique and independent operators worldwide.

It set out its plans to look for “an A-team of travel agents” in November last year, when it featured more than 40 suppliers and offered upwards of 5,000 adventures having attracted £500,000 of funding from eight ‘angel investors’.

The Adventure People is also a member of the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas).

Roche said: “We believe Abta offers real value and is more relevant than ever in setting standards for the industry and offering financial protection.

“It is a well-known, and highly regarded brand, that for customers, will be a sign of reassurance when they are booking with us.”
