Adagio steps ahead with seven new walking itineraries

Walking holiday specialist Adagio has seven new itineraries in its 2020 brochure, featuring the Shetland Islands, Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland.

The brochure offers 37 group touring holidays, including nine Adagio Plus itineraries, which feature longer walks than the standard Adagio ‘gentle walking’ holiday.

The profile of the Shetland islands (pictured) has been raised over recent years thanks to the TV drama Shetland, and a new series is expected to be aired in February 2020.

The new seven-night Shetland Islands holiday explores the scenery seen on the show, and offers the chance to see wildlife such as puffins, otters, seals, dolphins and whales.

It costs from £1,595 including flights and half-board accommodation at the Scalloway Hotel.

Also new is Postcards from Provence in southern France, which costs from £1,475 including train travel from London and seven nights’ half-board accommodation, and the seven-night Catalan Explorer, from £1,339 including flights and half-board accommodation.

New Adagio Plus tours include Dobbiaco & the Tre Cime in the northern Dolomites – from £1,289 – and A Swiss Summer, from £1,399. Both include flights and half-board accommodation.

Kevin O’Regan, managing director, said: “With an emphasis on taking one’s time to experience each destination at a leisurely pace, we aim to offer a more immersive experience.”

Adagio and its sister brand Ramblers Walking Holidays joined the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas) earlier this month and will be at the Atas conference in Manchester (September 18-19).
