Arena Travel to consider further acquisitions to grow brand portfolio

Specialist tour operator Arena Travel says it will consider further acquisitions as it looks to grow its family of brands.

The company bought the Diamond Rail brand and The River Cruise Line in 2017. Its rail holidays now operate under the Arena Rail Holidays brand.

It has split the business into three divisions: rail and river holidays; cultural tours, including art history tours with the Art Pursuits Abroad brand it acquired last year; and special interest holdiays such as First For Bridge and Stitchopia.

Managing director Steve Goodenough said the company was interested in both organic growth and acquisition of brands to bolster its existing portfolio of specialist product.

He said: “Our amibition is to continue to grow through organic growth of our existing brands and through acquisition of similar businesses operating in niches that appeal to a similar demographic.”

He would not reveal whether there were any acquisitions in the pipeline but said the group would welcome contact from interested parties looking to sell.

The group is also hoping to increase trade sales through its existing brands, including Arena Rail Holidays, which currently gets around 10% of its sales from the trade. Goodenough said the company would like to increase this to 30%.
