Maria Whiteman to leave Saga Holidays

Saga Holidays managing director Maria Whiteman is to leave the business at the end of the summer after two years at the company.

She will join privately-owned student travel specialist, Next Generation Travel, on October 1.

Whiteman took on the then newly-created role of managing director of Saga Holidays in 2016 and has previosuly held senior roles at Amadeus, Travel 2, Airmiles and Hayes & Jarvis.

In her new role, Whiteman will be managing six brands.

On its website, Next Generation Travel claims to be the fastest-growing educational travel business selling holidays to young people aged between 10-21.

Robin Shaw, chief executive, Saga Travel, said: “Maria Whiteman has decided to leave Saga at the end of the Summer to take up a new role with Next Generation Travel.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Maria as in her new role she will be working for a privately-owned business, managing six market-leading brands based in different UK locations. This role will also give her the opportunity to focus on a different sector of the travel market.

“In her two and a half years with Saga, Maria has had a significant impact on Saga Holidays and has been critical to shaping the strategy, which we continue to be fully committed to.

“I would like to thank Maria for her considerable contribution to the business and wish her every success in her future role.”
