Wendy Wu highlights Asia anniversaries

Asia specialist Wendy Wu Tours is offering discounts of up to £500 per person on tours to Asia, as it promotes a range of anniversaries and special events in the region.

The offers are available on bookings confirmed between May 7 and June 3.

With the Rugby World Cup kicking off in Japan this autumn, the operator is expecting a boost in awareness for Japanese tours.

Its Discover Japan itinerary includes Osaka, Tokyo, snow monkeys in the Japanese Alps and hiking on Mount Fuji.

Meanwhile, in India, October 2 marks the 150th year of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth and the start of year-long celebrations.

There will be exhibitions at the National Gandhi Museum in Delhi, and a global Gandhi cycling event on June 3, World Cycling Day.

Its 14-day Inspiring India tour features the Taj Mahal, Ranthambore, Amber Fort and Udaipur, from £2,290.

Interest in China and the Himalayas is set for a boost thanks to the release of Abominable, by Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks animation team

The story follows a group from the streets of Shanghai who trek 3,000 miles to reunite a mythical Yeti with his family on Mount Everest.

Holidaymakers can see Mount Everest, Potala Palace and the kingdom of Kathmandu on Wendy Wu Tours’ 21-day Himalayan Adventure holiday. It costs from £4,290.

The group escorted tour prices include flights.
