TourHound tech boosts Barrhead touring sales

Barrhead Travel said sales of touring holidays rose by almost a third in March (32% year-on-year) after it launched a partnership with online search platform TourHound.

The Scottish agency chain invested in the web technology after seeing touring revenue rise by 20% year-on-year in 2018.

Its white-label web partnership with TourHound – an associate member of the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers – has seen Barrhead Travel add a new ‘Touring Holidays’ section to the agency’s website.

It enables customers to browse offers from Barrhead Travel’s preferred touring partners and then call or email a specialist in that destination.

The agency said it has seen a noticeable increase in touring bookings since the section went live at the end of February.

Several destinations have seen significant year-on-year increases in sales so far this year, including India (up 28%), Vietnam (up 75%) and Japan (up by 88%).

Jacqueline Dobson (pictured), Barrhead Travel president, said: “Touring has been a key growth area for our business and shows no signs of slowing down.

“We’ve also increased training for our sales teams to ensure we can offer our clients the most up-to-date and authentic expertise as the sector continues to grow in popularity.”

To complement the new touring website section, Barrhead has been running marketing campaigns.
