Virgin Atlantic will resume Heathrow to Mumbai flights after four years following the demise of Jet Airways’ services to India.
Tickets will go on sale from May 28, with daily flights starting in October, adding to the airline’s existing route between London and Delhi.
The flights will depart from Heathrow at 10:15am to align with connecting flights to and from the US. Flights will arrive in Mumbai at 00:40 (local time) and depart back to London at 02:55am, arriving at 07:35am.
The service will be operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and featuring Upper Class and Premium cabins alongside Virgin’s Economy Light, Classic and Delight economy offering.
All of the airline’s 787-9 aircraft are wi-fi enabled and offer complimentary food and drink and more than 300 hours of onboard entertainment.
Juha Jarvinen, executive vice president at Virgin Atlantic, said: “Until recently we’ve been able to serve this important market through our partnership with Jet Airways, however, since Jet Airways has sadly suspended its operation, we now have an opportunity to provide alternative options for our customers and meet this demand.”
The Mumbai flights marks Virgin Atlantic’s 27th daily service from Heathrow and its third new route announcement this year.
Flights to Tel Aviv are due to start in September and with a São Paulo route starting in 2020.
