TripAdvisor launches dedicated cruise section

Cruise passengers can now post reviews of their onboard experiences on TripAdvisor.

From today (April 9), passengers will be able to read and write cruise ship reviews, share photos and shop for sailings on TripAdvisor.

More than 70,000 ocean and river cruises, including expedition sailings, will be available on the new TripAdvisor subsection – tripadvisor.co.uk/cruises.

TripAdvisor said it would add more cruise lines, features and content in the coming months.

About 32% of TripAdvisor users have cruised, according to data collected by the review site last year.

Royal Caribbean International has been named as the official partner of the UK launch of the new TripAdvisor cruise offering.

TripAdvisor first contacted the line about getting involved with its dedicated cruise section less than a month ago.

Royal Caribbean will be the exclusive cruise line advertiser on the site and support TripAdvisor with additional content.

Ben Bouldin, the line’s associate vice-president and UK & Ireland managing director, said Royal Caribbean expects TripAdvisor’s dedicated cruise hub to have “a huge impact” on the travel industry.

He said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with TripAdvisor on the launch of its dedicated cruise hub, which we anticipate having a huge impact on the travel industry, introducing cruise to a completely new audience of travellers and holidaymakers.

“We believe that by partnering with TripAdvisor, we will be accessing a new-to-cruise audience which complements our existing strategy of working with cruise-dedicated sites.”
