Wendy Wu unveils China fam trip incentive

Wendy Wu Tours will host 15 agents on a fam trip to Chongqing in China, to see Unesco World Heritage Sites and experience the new visa-on-arrival service.

Agents can win a place on the educational tour by making bookings that include China between April 1 and May 31.

There will be 10 places for the top-selling agents during the two-month period, and the other five places will be allocated by a draw of all agents who have made at least one booking.

John Warr (pictured), global sales director, said the fam trip aims to highlight the introduction of the visa-on-arrival service for Wendy Wu customers arriving in Chongqing.

“In addition to giving agents the opportunity to visit some of China’s magnificent Unesco World Heritage Sites, this trip is also an opportunity for agents to experience for the first time how easy it is to travel through Chongqing with visa-on-arrival instead of getting a visa before travel,” he said.

The trip starts on June 22 with an overnight flight with Tianjin Airlines from Heathrow to Chongqing.

Agents will visit the Chongqing Panda House, and explore Ciqikou, a district known for its porcelain production during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

They will travel on to Wulong, a Unesco World Heritage Site which is famous for its limestone scenery of gorges, caves and natural bridges.

The itinerary includes Three Bridges National Park, and Longshuixia Fissure, a narrow fault line that has been carved out by a river.

The trip will also include Dazu, famous for rock carvings dating from the ninth to the 13th centuries, before the flights home on June 29.

The Asia tours specialist announced in January that it had been granted permission to process a specialist visa for China which bypasses new entry laws and avoids the need for fingerprints.

The new visa is valid where two or more holidaymakers are travelling together on the same flight in and out of five specified airports in the country. These are: Beijing; Shanghai; Chongqing; Chengdu; and Kunming Changshui.

Under the new visa, there is no need to visit one of the three Chinese consulates in London, Manchester and Edinburgh and join queues to get fingerprints taken before travel to China.
