Portillo rail show just the ticket for Prestige

Prestige Holidays claims its January and February sales for Canada reached record levels, thanks to agency support and Michael Portillo’s programme about Canadian rail trips.

The operator’s Canada team reports that revenue for January and February is up by more than 30% year-on-year.

Denise Hunn, Prestige Holidays’ Canada tour operations director, said: “We had the best January since we started our Canada programme in September 2009, yet this February has surpassed that.

“BBC2’s Great Canadian Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo and our various marketing activities including Atlantic Canada agency window displays, have had a positive impact on demand for the destination – and our team has been working tirelessly to cope with the surge in bookings.”

She added: “Following last year’s recruitment drive and the recent announcement of Jonathan’s Whiteley’s appointment as long-haul sales manager, we have a really strong team in place.

“Intensive destination training and staff fam trips ensure our core team is able to offer the best specialist knowledge, attention to detail and service level.

“But our success is not only down to our inhouse team – we could not have done it without the strong support from the trade, in particular our travel agent partners.

“This year we’re planning at least two agent fam trips and are currently finalising a number of roadshows and agent-focused events.”
