New Accor lifestyle brand abandons costly minibars

Tribe has been unveiled as a new mid-range lifestyle brand by Accor with London among 150 destinations targeted.

Accor claims the brand will focus on “style rather than price” in a bid to create the feel of an urban hub.

Rooms will feature Smart TVs and under-bed storage with  Nespresso coffee capsules and teabags provided free of charge in place of costly minibars. ‘Grab and go’ food will be available 24/7 in addition to a café-bar.

The brand’s first property is a 126-room hotel in Perth, Australia with ten further openings targeted across Asia Pacific and Europe by 2022.

This would give the new offshoot more than 1,700 rooms with more in the pipeline.

The first European Tribe hotel is due to open in Glasgow this summer.

Accor chief development officer Gaurav Bhushan said: “The pipeline of over 20 hotels currently being negotiated for the coming years leads us to believe that the Tribe brand will achieve significant growth all over the world including in gateway locations such as Paris, London, Singapore, Dubai and Bangkok.

“It will make its debut in 150 international destinations by 2030.”
