Agents invited to join Acacia Africa solo travel campaign

Safari specialist Acacia Africa is urging agents to take part in its International Women’s Day social media campaign which will highlight solo travel for women.

The tour operator will launch its #WomenGoSolo initiative on International Women’s Day (March 8) and will be sharing content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Acacia Africa is working with 14 solo female travel bloggers to encourage women to see the world alone, with quotes, anecdotes, tips and blog posts – and travel agents are invited to follow and contribute.

Sabine Behrmann, Cape Town manager at Acacia Africa, said: “By joining the conversation, agents will be helping to reinforce the idea that solo female travel is achievable.

“They will also be creating connections in the social media sphere and positioning themselves as go-to contacts for the growing number of clients looking to book their next holiday as a solo traveller.

“There is a growing and vibrant community of solo female travellers online, and we are sure that our #WomenGoSolo initiative will inspire more clients.”

She added: “When unfortunate events make the headlines, solo female travel isn’t always portrayed in a positive light.

“The goal of our #WomenGoSolo initiative is to change the narrative. We’re here to say, it is something to be celebrated, it can be done safely, and by starting a conversation with a network of expert bloggers, we are hoping to encourage more women to give themselves the gift of solo female travel.

“International Women’s Day is the perfect platform for the launch.”

The operator is focusing on solo travellers as a key target market in 2019 and is seeing rising numbers of solo women clients.
