Thomas Cook marketing director to leave as group unveils restructure

Thomas Cook has announced a restructure of its marketing function and confirmed group marketing director Jamie Queen will also be leaving the business.

In the UK, sales and e-commerce director Phil Gardner will add marketing to his existing commercial remit. In the operator’s growing own-brand hotels and resorts business, current head of communications David Child will become head of communications and marketing, hotels and resorts.

In his expanded role, Child will have a focus on the flagship Casa Cook and Cook’s Club brands, as well as 20 hotel openings scheduled for this summer.

Enric Noguer, chief of hotels and resorts, said: “By creating a combined marketing and communications role within our hotels and resorts business, we aim to accelerate our ambition to make Thomas Cook famous for its own-brand hotels across all our markets.

“I am delighted that David is taking on this broader role and look forward to seeing him working with all our markets to bring our hotels to life for customers across all channels.”

A statement from Cook said Queen would be leaving the business at the end of April to “pursue new challenges”. He has worked for the business at UK and group level for five years in a range of senior marketing and e-commerce roles.
