Travelopia takes over German luxury travel specialist

Specialist travel group Travelopia is to take over a German luxury tailor-made operator.

Enchanting Travels is being acquired for an undisclosed sum.

Completion of the deal is subject to regulatory approval in certain jurisdictions and agreement from Enchanting Travels’ minority shareholders.

Founded in 2004 by Parik Laxminarayan and Alex Metzler, the firm provides trips in North America, Europe and Australia.

Enchanting Travels, with six offices across four continents, handles 30,000 holidaymakers a year across 44 countries.

The company has developed a leading technology platform and its forecast to double its revenue to an unspecified level in the three years to 2019.

Future expansion is planned through the development of new and existing source markets and destinations.

Travelopia handles more than 750,000 travellers a year operating more than 50 brands includingQuark Expeditions, TCS World Travel, Hayes & Jarvis, Sovereign Luxury Travel, Exodus Travels, Citalia, Austravel, Le Boat, Gullivers Sports Travel, Flexiski, American Holidays, The Moorings, Sunsail and Headwater.

CEO Andy Duncan said: “Parik and his team have created an exciting and innovative business that utilises the latest technology to help redefine tailor-made travel and offer life changing holidays.

“We look forward to working with the team to expand Enchanting Travel’s destination and luxury travel offering, and to support its growth in its primary source markets of Germany and the USA.”

Laxminarayan, Enchanting Travels CEO, added: “The opportunity for us to join Travelopia and embark on a much bigger journey with a much larger vision is something we are very excited about.

“Travelopia holds a very inspiring vision of being the best collection of travel specialist companies in the world and we look forward to starting our new journey, driving Travelopia’s growth and vision forward, as part of a very exciting next phase for our company.”
