Virgin Holidays announces senior team shake-up

Virgin Holidays’ vice president of sales and product Lee Haslett is to move across to Virgin Atlantic as part of a senior restructure.

The shake up of the product and distribution leadership team will see Haslett become vice president of sales at sister airline Virgin Atlantic from June.

As a result, other changes have been announced. Angus Bond, previously head of USA product, has taken up the role of head of e-commerce and hotel sourcing. He is responsible for spearheading an aggressive digital overhaul as part of the business’ growth, who has been promoted to head of USA product.

Head of e-commerce Rach Wilton has now become head of retail, taking responsibility for the single biggest sales channel in the business and tasked with continuing the successful roll-out of the v-room stores and Next concessions.

Dan Buckingham, former head of retail for Virgin Holidays, has taken the position of head of clubhouses at Virgin Atlantic. He is overseeing the nine Clubhouses and all third-party lounges worldwide.

Joe Thompson, managing director, Virgin Holidays, said:  “We’re committed to developing the best talent within the travel industry – and to do that, you need to provide new opportunities that add breadth and depth to our team’s skills and experience.  We’re looking forward to seeing what the team can achieve as we enter our next phase of ambitious growth.”

Haslett added:I’ve learnt so much at Virgin Holidays over the past decade and am so proud of what we’ve achieved.  I’m looking forward to my next challenge, super-charging the Virgin Atlantic sales team, increasing both passenger numbers and market share on key routes.  I have an important job to do in Virgin Holidays throughout the coming months and I’m completely committed to ensuring my successor hits the ground running.”

The company is currently recruiting to fill roles left vacant by the shake-up.
