More extended-stay holidays sold on Sunshine Saturday

Many people are opting to extend their main annual holiday with increases in ten night and two week durations across European beach destinations, according to Travel Republic.

The OTA’s ‘Sunshine Saturday’ weekend booking data showed Cyprus achieving the biggest year-on-year growth in long stay holidays at 18%, followed by Turkey with a 16% increase and Spain up 6%.

Savvy consumers are also taking advantage of UK bank holidays to stretch their annual leave, with similar increases in longer holidays to Spain, Turkey and Cyprus at Easter.

This enables people to take advantage of 18 days holiday for just nine days annual leave, according to the firm.

Travel Republic’s turn of year sale continues until February 5, including long stays over the Easter and May bank holidays.

Discounts for Easter breaks range from 10% to Tenerife, 29% to Turkey and 45% to Thailand.
