Cathay Pacific mistakenly sells business class flights at economy rates

Cathay Pacific is to honour business-class tickets mistakenly sold at economy prices on new year’s day.

Business-class return tickets from Da Nang in Vietnam to New York costing around $16,000 (£12,611) for travel in July and September, were sold for as little as $675.

It is not known how many tickets were sold at the fraction of the usual price.

However, the Hong Kong-based airline said on Twitter today that it would honour the bookings.

Cathay Pacific said: “Happy 2019 all, and to those who bought our good – VERY good surprise ‘special’ on New Year’s Day, yes – we made a mistake but we look forward to welcoming you on board with your ticket issued. Hope this will make your 2019 ‘special’ too! #promisemadepromisekept #lessonlearnt.”
