Virgin Atlantic ‘continuing Flybe takeover talks’

Virgin Atlantic has yet to make a bid for Flybe but is continuing to review its options for a takeover of the regional carrier.

The disclosure was made today by the UK long-haul airline following the initial announcement of its interest after Flybe put itself up for sale last month.

In an update to the London Stock Exchange, Virgin Atlantic said: “Following its announcement of 23 November 2018, Virgin Atlantic confirms that it continues to review its options in respect of Flybe including potentially making an offer for Flybe.

“Accordingly, discussions with Flybe and its management are continuing.”

However, the airline added: “There can be no certainty that any offer will be made nor as to the terms upon which any offer may be made.”

Exeter-based Flybe was put up for sale following a profits warning and said at the time that Virgin Atlantic was “one of the parties” it has been in discussions with.
