Thomas Cook signs up for second Secret Life of 5 Year Olds On Holiday show

Channel 4 will screen a Christmas edition of its Secret Life of 5 Year Olds On Holiday programme, with children on an all-inclusive Thomas Cook holiday in Turkey.

Last Christmas, two million viewers watched a special edition of the show featuring the antics of youngsters on a Thomas Cook holiday in Cyprus.

This year’s 60-minute one-off special will see familiar faces from previous shows joined by siblings and parents at the Sunwing Side Beach hotel.

Experts Dr Elizabeth Kilbey and Professor Paul Howard-Jones will observe how the children behave and interact with each other away from the routine of daily life.

The five-year-olds – some of whom had never been abroad before – will experience local traditions when they visit a Turkish mud bath, attempt to teach each other to snorkel and try unusual food. The families will also meet Kids Club mascots Lollo and Bernie.

Filming took place during October half-term and viewers will see some of the children experience flying for the first time with Thomas Cook Airlines.

Jamie Queen, group marketing director at Thomas Cook, said: “It was fascinating to watch last year’s Secret Life of Five Year Olds holiday special and to see how our youngest guests reacted and dealt with new situations.

“Turkey was one of this summer’s most popular destinations for families across the UK so it is apt that in this year’s Christmas episode, the children bring along their parents and siblings to experience everything a family holiday and the destination has to offer.”

Jane Hector-Jones, group partnerships and content manager at Channel 4, added: “Following the success of last year’s special, we’re extremely excited to be partnering with Thomas Cook once again on such a heart-warming series.”
