Seabourn throws star-studded party for landmark anniversary

Seabourn brought the curtain down on its 30th anniversary celebration events by welcoming more than 200 guests to Blenheim Palace.

The cruise line raised £80,000 for the Lord’s Taverners, a youth cricket and disability sports charity, at the reception in Oxfordshire.

Actress Elaine Page, painter Richard Stone and TV presenter Judith Chalmers joined travel agents and other guests at the event.

Sir Richard Stilgoe, the British songwriter, lyricist and musician, compered the event, with Jo Caulfield taking on the role of headline speaker.

A 20-piece orchestra performed the Seabourn Anthem during the champagne reception in Blenheim’s Great Hall on October 13.

The song is an exclusive composition by Sir Tim Rice.

It was first performed onboard Seabourn Ovation during the ship’s inaugural celebrations in Valletta, Malta.

Lynn Narraway, Seabourn’s managing director for UK & Ireland, said: “We were overwhelmed by the generosity of not only the Taverners, and our Seabourn guests, but also our travel partners Imagine Cruising and Bolsover Cruise Club, who supported and attended the event, along with members of their team.”
