Travel Weekly launches first podcast

The Travel Weekly Podcast will bring interviews and commentary from key figures in the sector, as well as previews of major events in the industry calendar.

The first episode features Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer, who discusses the themes of this year’s Travel Convention in Seville – truth, trust and the future of the travel expert. He also answers questions from agent readers.

The outgoing and incoming chairmen of the Association of
Touring & Adventure discuss what is in store for this year’s Atas Conference on October 22.

Cosmos chief executive Giles Hawke, who has been Atas chairman for the past 18 months, and APT’s UK managing director, Paul Melinis, who takes over this week, share their thoughts on how touring will evolve.

Dame Esther Rantzen, who was guest speaker at Travel Weekly’s mature travel-themed executive lunch, will feature on the second episode, due out later this month.

Head of news, Amie Keeley, said: “For the past few months we’ve been looking at ways to diversify how we bring our readers new content across more platforms.

“The print magazine remains at the core of what we do, as well as a growing online presence through our website and social media channels. The Travel Weekly Podcast adds another dimension, and will enable us to hear from people in the industry, their opinions on issues at the heart of the sector, as well as special guests.”
