Royal Caribbean’s head of PR switches brands to Celebrity Cruises

Royal Caribbean International’s head of PR and social has moved to the newly created role of director of marketing and PR at Celebrity Cruises.

Jo Vaughton will start her new job on October 15 ahead of the launch of Celebrity Edge in December.

She has also been named as the chair of Clia PR working group this month.

Sam Otter, the marketing and PR director at Celebrity Cruises UK and Ireland, left her position in July this year after deciding to make a career change.

In the three years Vaughton has been at Royal Caribbean she has overseen communication for four ships, including Symphony of the Seas.

Vaughton will also continue to oversee UK and EMEA corporate announcements across Royal Caribbean Cruises’ brands.

Jo Rzymowska, Celebrity Cruises’ vice president and managing director in UK, Ireland and Asia, said: “We’re delighted that Jo [Vaughton] is joining the Celebrity Cruises family.

“She brings with her buckets of experience and a real creative flair that will make all the difference as we approach big brand moments like the launch of Celebrity Edge.”

Ben Bouldin, Royal Caribbean’s associate vice president and managing director of UK & Ireland, said he wished Vaughton well in her new role.

Vaughton’s replacement at Royal Caribbean will be announced in due course, a statement today (September 25) read.

Prior to working for Royal Caribbean, Vaughton  was global brand communications director for InterContinental Hotels Group.

Before that, she spent 16 years agency side developing brand campaigns for global household names such as American Express, Microsoft, Disney, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Lego and Innocent.
