Oceania Nautica became detached from its dock in Scotland after its mooring lines were parted by strong winds whipped up by Storm Ali.

Tug boats were called into assist the vessel yesterday as it was held off its berth in Greenock.

Shore operations teams were looking after 478 passengers and 26 crew members ashore at the port terminal in Scotland.

An Oceania Cruises spokesperson said they would return to the 684 passenger-capacity vessel once conditions were safe for it to return to the terminal.

All passengers and crew onboard are safe and there are no reported injuries.

Oceania Nautica is on a 38-day cruise from Stockholm to Barcelona, which ends on October 10.

Oceania Cruises said in an update today: “All guests were able to re-board Nautica on the evening of 19th September.

“The ship continued on its voyage around the UK making her scheduled stop in Belfast this morning, 20th September. There are no plans to alter or amend the remainder of the sailing.”
