Imagine Cruising appoints Carl Burrows as global marketing director

Collette’s former UK managing director Carl Burrows has joined Imagine Cruising Group as it continues to restructure its global management team.

Burrows joins Imagine Cruising as global marketing director after leaving escorted tours operator Collette in March along with the then head of marketing Michelle Laverick.

Burrows is one of five new faces to join the dnata-owned cruise and stay specialist since the beginning of 2018. Founder Robin Deller is planning to move away from the day-to-day running of the business in 2020.

Deller is expected to step down as chief executive, but will continue to be actively involved in the business as Imagine Cruising Group chairman.

He said: “Imagine Cruising is now an established global business and as such, we need a global team.  I’m delighted to welcome everyone to their new positions.

“Every individual joining us brings a wealth of experience, specialist knowledge and business acumen to the company.

“In the three years since we’ve become part of dnata we have driven growth at an incredible rate, both in terms of profit and our expansion globally.

“We have not only achieved all elements of my vision for the company when we opened for business in 2011, but together with our colleagues at dnata, we’ve hit many more commercial and brand milestones.

“Boosting our leadership team further strengthens our position as we enter the next phase of our growth plans.  I know they will build on our successes and continue to take the company from strength to strength.”

Other appointments this year include Rachael Merrett, who joins as global head of finance; Andy Edwards, who now is global head of events, and Stephen Farmer, who joins as global head of communications.

Brian Flood has joined as the global head of IT and procurement.

Since Imagine Cruising was set up in 2011, it has grown from a team of eight to more than 270 across five offices on four continents.
