Space hotel firm offers $50,000 agent commission

Agents will be able to earn a flat rate $50,000 commission for booking $.9.5 million stays in a planned luxury space hotel.

US firm Orion Span plans to offer 12-day trips 200 miles into space to the Aurora Station from 2022, providing an “unforgettable authentic astronaut experience”.

Prices start at $9.5 million per person with deposits of $80,000 required for each traveller.

Commissions will be paid in full after completion of the trip, according to the Houston-based space technology start-up.

The hotel aims to orbit Earth every 90 minutes, meaning those aboard will see an average of 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours.

Travellers will experience zero gravity as they view the northern and southern aurora through windows, take part in research experiments such as growing food while in orbit and stay in touch with home via high-speed wireless Internet access.

The company’s mission is to build and sustain human communities in space.

Orion Span founder and CEO Frank Bunger said: “Since opening our hotel reservations in April, we’ve been met with great excitement as space enthusiasts from around the world have moved quickly to secure their reservations.

“The first six months of reservations are already sold out and much of the interest we’ve seen since our launch has been from travel professionals with interested clients.

“We’re pleased to now offer a seamless booking experience for this segment of the industry and to reward them with an outstanding, high-value commission.”
