Emirates confirms 10 passengers fell ill on board New York flight

Emirates has confirmed that around ten passengers were taken ill following a flight from Dubai to New York.

The Airbus A380 was quarantined for a short time at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport after a number of passengers complained of feeling ill on the flight at just after 9am US time yesterday (Wednesday).

Reports suggested passengers had become ill with fevers and coughing on board, with initial reports suggesting up to 100 people were affected.

However, in a statement, the airline said: “Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill. On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities and those needing medical attention will be attended to.”

It is not yet clear what caused the passengers to become ill.
