Resort Marketing International appoints two directors

Resort Marketing International has made two appointments to the roles of business development director and account director.

Darren Hall, the former trade sales manager at Bookabed and head of sales at Funway Holidays, has joined the hotel representation company as business development director.

He will be responsible for driving sales and marketing activities with retail travel agents, groups and consortia for the company’s portfolio in the Caribbean and Mexico, including Elite Island Resorts, Oasis Hotels & Resorts, SunGroup Hotels & Casa De Campo.

Hall will also oversee the development of RMI’s Centrium Reservation platform to enable agents to directly book the resorts online or through affiliated groups and consortiums.

Resort Marketing International’s managing director Colin Pegler said: “The appointment of Darren is core to our drive to help travel agents book our leading Caribbean & Mexico properties at the best possible prices.

“Darren has a strong background, having worked at the sharp end in high street travel agents, plus heading up sales at leading operator Funway and bedbank Bookabed.”

The firm has also appointed Kate Downing as account director. She has previously worked for ROL Cruises, Advantage Travel Partnership-backed WIN Travel Network, Virgin Atlantic and Premier Travel.

Pegler added: “We are delighted that Kate is joining the team. She brings a wealth of experience and new ideas to the role.”

The appointments follow the departure of former business development director Greg Armstrong, who has left Resort Marketing International for Blue Bay Travel.
