Heathrow operator Ferrovial plans to move its international holding company out of Britain because of the UK’s pending exit from the EU.
Ferrovial announced the move this week following the UK Parliament’s vote to approve government plans for a third runway at Heathrow.
The Spanish consortium will move its Heathrow holding company from Oxford to Amsterdam “during the next few weeks”, it said in a statement.
The move was first reported in the Spanish media.
Ferrovial said: “The reason for the move is to maintain the group’s international companies under the umbrella of [the EU] communities’ legislation.”
The company has operated Heathrow since 2006, but it has had a base in Oxford through infrastructure subsidiary Amey since 2003.
It denied any jobs would be lost in the UK, saying: “Operations in the UK will remain exactly as they are.”
Ferrovial noted in its annual report for 2017 that: “Brexit has not had a negative impact on the activity of British airports.”
