Trafalgar offers 10 tours in debut Africa brochure

Trafalgar is selling a dedicated programme to Africa for the first time.

Its debut Africa brochure features 10 guided tours in nine countries. It has been put together using the expertise of the Tollman family, who founded parent group The Travel Corporation and are themselves from South Africa.

The move follows the group’s decision to buy the South African tourism and leisure group Cullinan Holdings, which owns inbound and outbound tour operators and travel agencies, in March. It was previously a majority shareholder.

Chief executive Gavin Tollman said: “We had to be careful [previously] not to have any conflict [with Cullinan companies].

“But after 72 years of waiting, now is the time to return Trafalgar guests to our homeland, a country we love.

“When I looked at the volume of growth of people coming to Africa, the statistics point to the fact this is the right time to go.”

Trafalgar had previously sold parts of North Africa and one South Africa family tour.

The first Africa tours depart this Christmas. Trips for 2019 include the 15-day Best of South Africa, which includes a stay at The Oyster Box Hotel in Durban, the Garden Route, Kruger National Park and Table Mountain. This starts from £3,795.

Other destinations featured include Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.
