Travel Brit Awards winners revealed

The 12th annual Travel Brit Awards took place in a Haven resort for this first time at the weekend honouring the UK’s domestic holidays sellers.

Midcounties Co-operative was the big winner taking home the Outstanding Achievement Award and the individual UK Ambassador Award which went to homeworker Ginette Steele.

Before the awards, 160 agents enjoyed a range of activities including archery, Segway riding, raft building, tennis and mug painting at the Primrose Valley Caravan Park in Filey, North Yorkshire.

Having picked up her award Steele said: “I’m truly honoured. I am proud to support the domestic market and I love working with all of the operators here tonight – they really do live and breathe their products, which makes selling them so much easier.

“The Travel Brit Awards gets bigger and better each and every year, it really is the place to be to network with other like-minded industry professionals from across the domestic sector.”

Ben Lovett, commercial manager at Midcounties Co-Operative Travel Group, said: “We are delighted to have been presented with this award and I want to highlight that the hard work of the entire team has made this happen.

“Every single staff member works tirelessly to deliver results for our customers and we appreciate the support of all of the suppliers here. A huge thank you to all of the suppliers for this recognition.”

Louise Tansey, national sales manager of Haven parent Bourne Leisure, said: “Thank you to everyone that made the Travel Brit Awards 2018 such a memorable night – to all of the suppliers for their hard work setting up and their continued support of the event; to each and every agent that took part in our activities and danced the night away; and of course to all of our winners, huge congratulations.

“This event is an important one for the domestic travel market and recognises the hard work and continued dedication of the UK trade in selling UK breaks. The Travel Brit Awards grow in strength every year and we are delighted to be able to host increasing numbers of so many supportive agents.

“This year Haven took centre stage as our host location, offering a new take on activities, atmosphere and backdrop. Our theatre style entertainment went down a storm and our seaside theme truly caught the essence of the domestic holiday market.

“We hope that you all took away something that will help you continue to sell domestic breaks and we very much look forward to seeing you again next year for the Travel Brit Awards 2019”.

The Travel Brit are supported by Airways Holidays, Condor Ferries, VisitGuernsey, Bourne Leisure, Hoseasons, Newmarket Holiday, Shearings, Superbreak and Abta.
