TravelSupermarket sees rise in searches for all-inclusive resorts

All-inclusive resorts have emerged as the top overseas holiday option this summer as British holidaymakers search out cost-effective breaks.

The Spanish mainland, Majorca, Malta, Turkey, Bulgaria and Corfu are identified as offering families the best deals for all-inclusive holidays during the peak summer school holiday period.

Holiday price comparison site TravelSupermarket reported a 13.5% rise in people looking for all-inclusive holidays for this summer compared with last year.

Also, all-inclusive holidays have dropped in price by as much as 10% for this July and August against the summer school holiday period in 2017, according to TravelSupermarket pricing data.

The all-in option is now the favourite board type with 38% of all beach holiday price searches for this summer reported to be for all-inclusive, 18% for self-catering and 12% for half board.

The figures are based on price searches for seven night overseas’ all-inclusive package holidays departing between July 21 and August 26.

The best value beach package holidays for a family of four are to seven destinations:

1.       Costa Brava, Spain
2.       Antalya, Side and Kusadasi, Turkey
3.       Malta
4.       Majorca
5.       Corfu, Greece
6.       Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
7.       Costa Dorada, Spain

Emma Coulthurst, travel expert at the holiday price comparison site, said that while exchange rates continue to be unpredictable, opting for all-inclusive can be a cost-effective option.

“An all-inclusive holiday really helps with budgeting,” she added. “Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria in particular are offering some of the best package holiday prices this summer.

“But make sure that you do your research and find out what is included in the package at the hotel so that you know that it is the right package for you.

“Some hotels include certain drinks, others don’t. So, find out as much as you can about the hotel so that you know that it suits what you are looking for.”

Coulthurst recommended comparing prices across the summer to find the best prices.

“The first and last weeks of the summer school holidays often offer the best package prices. Flying mid-week also often offers savings. So, if you can be flexible, compare dates to find the best prices,” she said.
