AMG appointed to represent Playa Hotels and Resorts in Europe

UK sales and marketing agency AMG has been appointed to represent Playa Hotels & Resorts in Europe and will act on behalf of 15 properties in Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

The Playa Hotels & Resorts portfolio includes the recent acquisition of four Jewel-branded resorts and the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa, all based in Jamaica. AMG previously represented Jewel when it opened its first resort in 2010.

AMG will manage sales, trade and consumer marketing from this week.

Joint chief executive of AMG Nadine Rankin said the business would be recruiting additional staff for its team, not only in its London offices but also in Germany to service the requirements of its new account.

AMG currently represents tourist boards and hotel groups including Tobago, Dubai Parks and Resorts and Nassau Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and partners with agent rewards site, My Booking Rewards, of which both Playa and Jewel are members.

Playa’s properties include Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva in Cancun, Hyatt Ziara and Hyatt Ziva in Rose Hall Jamaica as well as the Panama Jack Resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Playa also owns and operates The Royal Playa del Carmen and manages the Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic and is poised to acquire or develop more all-inclusive hotels under its two Hyatt brands—Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara.

The Jewel resorts include Jewel Runaway Bay, Jewel Dunn’s River, Jewel Paradise Cove and Jewel Grande Palmyra.

“We are so excited to be back in the fold with the Jewel Resorts and Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa and to be representing other Playa-owned brands,” Rankin said. “With resorts of this calibre we will have plenty to talk to tour operators and travel agents about in the coming months, and can begin to look at some really exciting marketing opportunities.”
