Justin Fleming steps down as ABTA president

ABTA president Justin Fleming will step down on April 29 after three years at the helm.

Current board members are now welcome to propose and second candidates for the role.

The nominations for vacancies on the ABTA board closed yesterday.  Sunvil director Noel Josephides was re-elected in the category of principal with annual turnover below £50 million.

In the retail category, there were three nominations who will now go to the vote.  Ballot papers will be sent out to members in the retail category next week and the closing date for votes is April 15.

The nominations are current board member and Britaly Travel director Daniele Broccoli, Knock Travel proprietor Doreen McKenzie and Sandy Travel director Sandy Murray.

On the ABTA Council of Regions, Travel Stop director Bridget Keevil, Stewart Travel Centre general manager Roddie MacPhee, Gallagher Travel director Heather Fielding and Holidays Your Way owner David Powell were re-elected. Sandy Murray was elected and two vacancies remain in the Southern and South Western Regions.

Chief executive Mark Tanzer said:  “I’m pleased to see the continuing representation of all sectors and areas in the country. This demonstrates democracy in action and that ABTA truly is an association for our members.”
