FCO sounds Turkey warning ahead of elections

Visitors to Turkey are being warned to avoid large gatherings due to elections taking place on June 24.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated its travel advice to the country on Friday.

This came after president Recep Erdogan announced presidential and parliamentary elections on June 24.

“This may result in rallies and demonstrations around the country,” the FCO said.

“You should avoid large gatherings and follow the advice of the local authorities.”
