Explore waives single supplements on small group tours

Single supplements are being waived by Adventure travel specialist Explore on selected small group trips booked between June 1-July 2.

The offer covers more than 60 trips in over 30 destinations and comes as the operator revealed that 70% of over-50s admit to regularly making excuses for not travelling and taking a trip of a lifetime.

One of the biggest worries of travelling solo is meeting new people, with three quarters of Explore customers identifying this as their greatest concern.

However, post-trip feedback shows that travelling as part of a group made people feel safe and secure and enabled them to have a more enjoyable experience.

Travellers also admitted that being part of a like-minded group with common interests and a local guide gave them a more authentic experience than they would have had travelling completely alone.

Explore has seen a steady growth in solo travel over the last three years with more than half of its customers now travelling on their own.

European walking and trekking trips are among the most popular, with Spain being the top-selling destination for solo travellers.
