Abta opens 2018 Convention registration

Abta opened registration for the 2018 Travel Convention in Seville today with a programme themed on ‘Truth, Trust and the Future of the Expert’.

Business sessions will tackle the question: “How do you build trust in an era of increasing scepticism?”

The event will be held in Seville on October 8-10 at the five-star Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento hotel. Delegates will enjoy exclusive use of the hotel, with additional accommodation at the nearby Eurostars Torre Sevilla which opened last year.

Discounted ‘Early Bird’ registration rates are available until the end of June.

Abta confirmed this week that Professor Paul Redmond, one of the hits of last year’s convention, would return to speak on the ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ of automation.

The event will be hosted by Andalucia – Turismo Andaluz, the Spanish Tourist Office/Turespaña, the Seville Provincial Tourism Board and Seville City Hall.

The usual range of activities will be available, including a golf tournament at the Club Zaudin Golf Club, the annual Convention football match at the Isla Cartuja Sports Facilities and local excursions.

Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said: “Seville and its surroundings offer a fantastic variety of options. We look forward to hosting delegates for a programme of thought-provoking business sessions and networking opportunities.”

He noted: “Delegates have six weeks to take advantage of the Early Bird rates.”

The Telegraph will be Convention lead partner for a 12th year alongside headline partners Royal Caribbean International, AVIS Budget and Global Media & Entertainment. Travel Weekly will again by trade media partner.

Tour operators Gold Medal, Travel 2, Trafalgar and Insight Vacations will host 30 UK agents at the Convention.
