Broadway star named as godmother of new Crystal River Cruises vessel

Broadway singer and actor Rachel York is to be godmother of Crystal River Cruises new vessel Crystal Debussy.

She is due to officially christen the ship on May 28 at a ceremony in Amsterdam.

York’s latest project on Broadway is “Head Over Heels”, a new musical comedy featuring the hits of US all-girl band the Go-Gos, produced by Gwyneth Paltrow among others.

Sailing itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel, the 106-passenger Crystal Debussy embarked on its maiden voyage along the Rhine on April 9.

The ship will sail seven and ten-day itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel along the Rhine and Moselle rivers, visiting Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

York will next perform on Crystal Mahler’s May 28 cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.

Crystal president and chief executive Tom Wolber said: “Rachel’s tremendous talents and charm transcends demographics and connects with audiences throughout the world.

“We are so pleased she is part of the Crystal family, as her grace and passion for excellence are representative of the experience found aboard Crystal voyages.”
