Jet2.com and Jet2holidays boost capacity from East Midlands airport

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have increased capacity from East Midlands airport by 8% for summer 2019.

A total of 970,000 seats to 34 destinations have gone on sale for next summer with a larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft joining the East Midlands fleet during the peak school holiday season.

Its 70,000 additional seats make Jet2holidays East Midlands Airport’s biggest tour operator.

The extra capacity is to:

  • Alicante – increase number of flights means up to 11 services per week
  • Canary Islands – up to 13 weekly services to the Canaries (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote)
  • Faro – 12 weekly services during the peak season
  • Majorca – increased number of services means up to 13 flights every week and over 100,000 seats on sale
  • Ibiza – now daily services thanks to the addition of new Saturday afternoon flights
  • Dalaman – increase in frequency means three weekly services, rising to four during the peak school holidays

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “The addition of a larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft during the peak season represents another huge investment in our base here, and gives local holidaymakers even more choice and flexibility with our award winning airline and tour operator.

Howard Ebison, commercial director of East Midlands Airport, added: “The continued expansion of Jet2.com’s operation here demonstrates the level of demand for flights to a range of destinations from within the East Midlands region and further afield.

“Summer 2019 may seem a long way off but it’s already shaping up to be a successful one, with a wider range of destinations available than ever before from East Midlands.”
