Thomas Cook Airlines crew to get 3.6% pay rise

More than 2,000 Thomas Cook Airlines cabin crew will receive an inflation linked 3.6% pay increase from April due to a two-year pay deal negotiated by the Unite union.

The rise is equivalent to an extra £600 a year for a typical crew member, according to Unite.

The 24-month agreement also raises cabin crew allowances which make up a significant proportion of their overall take-home pay.

The first year of the deal in 2017 delivered an annual increase of 3.2% or around £500 a year in basic pay for a typical crew member earning £16,107, back dated to April 2017.

Crew will now get another pay increase next montn in line with the February 2018 retail price index, raising a typical workers’ pay from £16,107 to £17,222 over the course of two years.

Unite regional officer Mike Gaskell said: This pay deal is a real boost for Thomas Cook cabin crew. It helps the crew keep up with the cost of living and recognises the hard work cabin crew do, day in, day out.”

Unite members work on flights to major tourist destinations from ten airports across the UK with the airline’s main hub at Manchester airport.
