Riviera Travel names first field-based sales development manager

Riviera Travel has appointed Paul Mellon as the line’s first field-based sales development manager.

Mellon, previously at Wendy Wu, Funway and Super Break, will start his new role with the river cruise and escorted tours specialist on Tuesday (March 27).

Joseph Grimley, Riviera Travel’s head of agency sales, said Mellon stood out from over 50 applicants thanks to his “professionalism and experience”.

He said: “We have been absolutely inundated with applicants, but it came down to just two applicants.

“It was hard decision but Paul [Mellon] did standout. His presentation skills were excellent.”

Mellon will be Riviera Travel’s first sales development to carry out his day-to-day responsibilities on the road.

He will look after agents in the south of the country.

Grimley is still recruiting for a sales development manager in the north and expects to make the appointment “later this year”.
