Abta retains Superbrand ranking

Abta has been ranked as a business Superbrand for the 12th year running and achieved consumer Superbrand status for the second year in succession.

The annual Superbrands listing of the UK’s strongest brands judges the performance of brands within the business and consumer sectors.

Abta did not make it on to the top 20 listings in either category with Heathrow the top travel consumer Superbrand in 16th position and British Airways the top travel business Superbrand in fourth place ahead of Emirates in fifth spot and Virgin Atlantic 13th.

Other travel business Superbrands recognised include Hilton Hotels & Resorts, American Express Travel and Virgin Trains.

Travel companies included in the consumer Superbrand listings include Thomas Cook, BA, P&O Cruises, Hilton and National Express.

Apple was ranked as the top business Superbrand while Lego topped the consumer category.

Superbrands identifies and pays tribute to exceptional brands by recognising, rewarding and reinforcing leading brands from all over the world.

Both the business and consumer Superbrands listings were judged by a council of senior marketing experts, 2,500 individual business professionals from across the UK and 2,500 consumers.

Abta did not apply or pay to be considered in both surveys.

Abta said: “Achieving Superbrand status in both business and consumer markets sends a powerful message.

“Customers who book with an Abta member can feel reassured that they are booking with a prestigious travel company, employees can feel proud to work with them and business stakeholders can trust and rely on the organisation to do well.”
