Liverpool John Lennon airport passenger numbers up 3%

Passengers using Liverpool John Lennon airport grew 3% in the year to date over the same period in 2017.

Almost 20,000 more passengers have chosen to use the Merseyside airport so far this year, making it the busiest January and February since 2010.

There was 2% growth in January and 4% growth in February.

The increases are expected to continue during the year with six new routes already announced with Blue Air to Palma and Malaga, easyJet to Pula, Dalaman and Palermo and Ryanair to Shannon.

Airport aviation director Paul Winfield said: “2018 is already proving to be another good year for the airport with encouraging passenger numbers using Liverpool.

“The airport has seen 70,000 more passengers use Liverpool than in February three years ago.

“The north-west market is the largest aviation market outside London and by focusing on our best in class operational performance and high levels of customer satisfaction, Liverpool is becoming the airport of choice as passengers take advantage of direct flights to over 60 short haul destinations.”
